David Alford
David Alford is a senior in computer engineering expecting to graduate Spring, 2010. He grew up in Renton, WA, but chose to come to the University of Idaho for his collegiate studies. On his spare time, he engages in creative writing as well as hiking, swimming, and pretty much anything else with friends.
Christian Bakken
Christian Bakken is a senior in the mechanical engineering program at the University of Idaho (graduating Spring '10). He is originally from Temple, Texas and moved to Moscow two years ago. He enjoys spending time outdoors whether backpacking, hiking or playing sports. He serves this team as the Financial Leader
Dave Billin
Originally from Moscow Idaho, Dave Billin is an undergraduate in the Computer Engineering program at the University of Idaho. Before enrolling, he served in various capacities, including the role of Associate Engineer, for LOUD Technologies, Inc. in Woodinville, Washington. Most recently, he has contributed to research efforts at the Microcomputer and Communications Research Institute MRCI. This work included the design and implementation of DSP- and computer-based data acquisition systems used in the development of autonomous vehicles. An IEEE member since 2007, His main interests are in the areas of signal processing, embedded system hardware, and the design of real-time operating systems and device drivers. Outside his academic pursuits, Dave performs the full-time role of husband and father, and looks forward to a future that will include spare time, and disposable income.
Kyle Fazzari
From Walla Walla Washington, Kyle Fazzari is a senior computer engineering student at the University of Idaho. His previous engineering experience includes the role of Associate Programmer at Miriam Technologies. In addition, he worked for the Microelectronics Research and Communications Institute (MRCI) developing computational neuron models for neocortical neural networks, and developing a system that used evolutionary algorithms to train cooperative neural networks for pneumatic control of a limb. His latest work was also for the MRCI developing embedded Linux applications to facilitate control of autonomous underwater vehicles. When he's not working or attending classes, Kyle enjoys reading, advancing his fencing skills, and working on various open-source projects. He also has a musical background as a semi-professional pianist, and enjoys keeping those skills sharp.
Erik Fretwell
Erik Fretwell is from Seabeck, WA, and is a senior in mechanical engineering expecting to graduate in Spring 2010. He has previously worked for the department of the navy in Silverdale WA, for naval museum northwest. He helped a group of teenagers build a basic ROV from scratch over the summer as part of his employment. He has always been interested in working for the navy, and has found naval projects and activities very interesting. In his free time, he enjoy working on trucks, motorcycles and cars, as well as hiking, reading, university clubs, and all sorts of other projects and hobbies like amateur radio. Many different technical topics interest him such as diesel engines, turbomachines, gyrocopters, brewing/brewing equipment, otto cycle engines, small scale steam power, self sufficient power systems, 2 cycle engines, and radio equipment. These interests seem to be expanding everyday and he hopes to pursue many of them in the future, either as part of his employment or on his own at the hobby level.
Jared Johnson
Jared Johnson grew up in Blackfoot, Idaho. He is a mechanical engineering student at the University of Idaho. Currently in his senior year, he expects to graduate in May of next year. For his senior design project he is working with Team Nessie as a mechanical engineer with the goal this year of developing the next generation AUV.
